The Making of Beach Days ~ Natural Cold Process Soap

Cold Process Soap making is the oldest form of soap making there is….dating back to 2800 B.C.!  Babylonians, Egyptians, Romans and Greeks would make soap with animal or plant fats mixed with boiling ashes.  Today, the science of soap making has advanced with the understanding of ingredients that are used to make pure soap…combining fats with sodium hydroxide (lye).

At Soap Avenue Company, I use only the purest, certified organic, plant-based fats in all of my products.

I start with a sterile workstation, melt all of my fats (oils & butters) over low heat, combine with lye water, emersion blend, add my mica colors and pour into my soap mold! After 2 days of rest in the mold, I will cut my soap loaf into bars, arrange on my curing racks, and wait 4 weeks until the curing process is complete.  Curing soap is vital, as the moisture is being released from the soap to make a hard stable bar of soap!  The finished product is a pure, natural, bubbly lather bar of soap, that you can feel good about using!
